Arctic Symbols with a Message

At the 2016 Arctic Winter Games in Nuuk, Greenland, the visual identity—the logo and mascot—served not just as branding but as tools of communication. These elements were designed to reflect the environment, values, and spirit of the North.

More Than Design

While we can’t display the original logo due to copyright, its concept was based on key themes: motion, balance, and connection. These reflected the Games’ aim to bring together circumpolar communities through sport and cultural exchange. The design followed the official Arctic Winter Games visual guidelines, ensuring it worked across languages, cultures, and media.

Connecting with Audiences

As with all AWG mascots, the 2016 figure wasn’t just decorative. It was created to embody: Local wildlife, playfulness, A sense of identity young participants could relate to.

The mascot helped create an atmosphere of welcome and celebration, especially for younger athletes and visitors.

Why It Matters

In large-scale international events like the AWG, visual elements like logos and mascots do more than decorate—they anchor the event. They help people remember where they were, what they saw, and what it felt like to be part of something bigger. The 2016 edition continued that tradition by choosing symbols that spoke clearly and respectfully to all participants.
